With lots of history to explore in Suffolk & Essex, we have put together some of our favourite places to explore and travel back in time.

Lavenham Guildhall

Lavenham Guildhall was built in the 16th century on the back of increasing wealth from the cloth industry in the area. It’s defiantly worth exploring if you’re visiting the area.

You do have to pay for entry but it’s part of the National Trust so members can enter for free.

Sutton Hoo

Sutton Hoo is an Anglo-Saxon burial ground set in a 255-acre estate with beautiful views over the Riven Deben. The story of Sutton Hoo features in the film The Dig and can be seen on Netflix.

Sutton Hoo is a national trust site so there is a charge for non-members.

Framlingham Castle

Framlingham Castle is surrounded by parkland, a picturesque lake and the beautiful Suffolk countryside. From the 10.5 meter high walls which you can walk you’ll get breathtaking views of the local area. For those Ed Sheeran fans, you might recognise this place from the song ‘Castle on the Hill’.

Framlingham Castle is an English Heritage site so there is an admission fee for non-members.

Beach’s & Seaside Towns

When the weather is great there’s no better place to be than the seaside. With lots of coastline across Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk there is lots to explore around Gladwins Farm.

Felixstowe

Felixstowe beach is a 45-minute drive from Gladwins Farm and is naturally divided into a north and south section. The north section is a shingle/pebble beach and is generally quieter than the sandy south section.

 

Frinton

Frinton is a popular seaside town in Essex and is just under an hour away from us. The tree-lined avenues, cliff-top green and victorian beach huts give it a peaceful atmosphere you can enjoy all year round.

 

Cromer

While Cromer is quite a long journey at just over 2 hours it is a wonderful area to explore. For those foodies out there, you’ll find the freshest Cromer crabs and for the kids, you can find Grey and Common seals all year round.
