Things To Do On A Rainy...
Rainy holiday? This is England! But fear not, here’s our list of the top 5 things to do on a...
As we’ve mentioned before, getting away for Christmas is good, but getting away for New Year’s Eve is even better.
Love it or hate it, you can’t avoid the New Years hype. Often, people find themselves burnt out after a busy (and expensive) Christmas and are more than happy with a white wine spritzer, watching the countdown and the fireworks on the TV and then drifting off on the sofa whilst Jools Holland blasts out ‘Hootenanny’ for the 14th time in the same evening.
But New Years celebrations don’t have to be hard work and anti-climatic, they can be a brilliant event filled with love, laughter and happiness, surrounded by the people you love.
So, here’s a list of why we think going away over the New Years period could really make it a holiday to remember:
We don’t mean everyone, obviously.
Every New Year’s Eve you end up sharing the night with people you don’t really know or want to be around. So instead of seeing the year out with your closest family and friends, you end up being shouted at by your brother’s girlfriend's sister’s best friend about how she’s going to eat more kale and go to the gym six times a week in 2019.
By taking advantage of one of our wonderful holiday cottages this New Years, you can make sure that you spend the evening with the people that mean most to you. Celebrating the year that has past and toasting to the year to come. That sounds far better, don’t you think?
Often, the thing people dislike most about New Year’s Eve is feeling like they have to have a good time. There always seems to be pressure to make this particular night the best night of the year and it’s that pressure and expectation that often leads to an anti-climatic countdown and a feeling of disappointment.
So, why limit yourself to a single night? It’s scientifically proven (probably) that the best nights of celebration are those that just seem to happen. They aren’t over-thought and they certainly aren’t forced. By visiting one of our beautiful cottages over New Year’s you can have as many nights of celebration as you wish, taking away that expectancy and ultimately leading to a fantastic night of fun and laughter.
A Beautiful Environment
Life can be tough, so when New Year’s Eve rolls around, you deserve to let your hair down and slightly overindulge on gin and tonic if you want to. It’ll seem a great idea at the time, but when the morning comes, you may well feel very sorry for yourself.
But, rather than being at home, the stunning location in which you’d have spent your celebration can act as an excellent hangover cure. Beautiful landscapes, walking paths and a break from the hustle and bustle of day to day life will have you feeling right as rain in no time (and maybe a Berocca or two). But, if that fails, our sofas are exceptionally comfortable for an afternoon snooze.
A Stress-free Start
No matter how fun the New Year’s Eve celebrations are, the hosts are always lumbered with the tidying up on 1st January whilst all the guests sneak away to binge watch Love Actually and Elf. The last thing you want to be doing on the first day of 2019 is spending hours tidying up other people’s mess all by yourself.
By coming together in one of our luxury cottages for New Year’s, everyone can chip in with the tidying up and then all settle down in front of the TV at the same time for a cosy, relaxed and most importantly, stress-free day.
Above all else, as long as you’re seeing the New Year in with the people that mean the most to you, it doesn’t matter where you are. By getting away for a few days over that period it’s the perfect excuse to get your loved ones together irrespective of where they live or how busy they are.
It does not matter whether you end up heading to bed at 7 am the following day or you crash out 5 minutes before midnight and miss it altogether. As long as you spend it with the people you love, we’re sure you’ll have a very happy New Year!
