Top 5 UK Summer Staycation Activities

Summer staycation

This summer is going to be a little different. With overseas holidays largely off-the-cards due to the Covid-19 pandemic, UK holidays and a summer staycation are a brilliant alternative. Our family-friendly cottages are the perfect place for you and the kids to treat yourselves—away from work, school and stress.

Walking and Biking

For the active family, these two activities can go ahead regardless of Covid restrictions. If you have a bike, there are numerous routes through the Suffolk and Essex countryside, some of them by stunning expanses of water. What’s more, Gladwins Farm has a bike store for use by our guests.

In the Stour valley, there are several walking paths of various lengths, from the shorter Woodland Walk on our grounds to the sixty-mile Stour Valley Path. If you wanted to bring your furry friend, all but one of our cottages are dog-friendly, with a comfortable bed, a dog bowl, biscuits and a placemat. If you don’t have an animal of your own, meet some of ours on the Woodland Walk.

Sport

If you want to inject a bit of competition into your activity, why not play some sport? Whilst this could be football, our on-site tennis courts and pool are also attractive options. For younger children, we also have a range of play options, so that they can get some much-needed activity too!

Beach Day

It’s definitely not a staycation without a beach day, right? If you want to make the most of the summer weather, why not have a beach day? Bring a picnic, towels and a ball, and have a splash in the sea? With the gradual re-opening of shops and retail, you might even be able to get an ice cream!

We are lucky to be just a 45-minute drive away from Frinton-on-sea, and a one-and-a-quarter hour journey from Aldeburgh. Both locations are famous for their lovely beaches and picturesque towns.

Movie night

Whether you are worn out from a day in nature, or the rain clouds have rolled in, a movie night is a great way to spend time together. All of our cottages are equipped with Freeview TV’s and DVD players. Grab the popcorn, and settle in for a family favourite, or a classic from your own childhood.

Game night

If movies aren’t your thing, and you prefer offline activities, why not bring a game or two to play. From Twister tournaments to Monopoly marathons, you are sure to have a night of laughs. For a simpler night, try charades, or bring a pack of cards and let the competition begin.

Make the most of the new guidelines today, and book a UK staycation at Gladwins Farm for your family, we can’t wait to meet you (from a distance)!
