Halloween Events For Children

There’s plenty of creepy goings-on in the area over the next month, so grab a broomstick, a pumpkin, (and the kids of course)… and take a look at some of these fantastic events.

Ghost Train at Southend Pier

Keep your kids on the edge of their seats with these fantastic evenings of fun in Southend. As well as a super-scary seaside ghost train, children can enjoy storytelling and ghoulish dress-up as well! Take a tour of the ghostly pavilion… if you dare! And when all the excitement has happened, pop on down to the beach for a show of incredible fireworks.

The farm has undergone a frightening makeover to create a scary atmosphere in time for Halloween! Children are invited to explore the spooky grounds in fancy dress, and will receive a bag of treats for their fantastic costumes. Hunt the grounds for potion ingredients in the Spellmakers Challenge, take a seat for bone-chilling stories from the witch, and get your fingers messy in a pumpkin carving workshop… the fun is endless!

In celebration of all things spooky, Colchester Zoo is hosting a series of nights packed to bursting with all manner of exciting activities! There is a haunted forest, a spooky science lab, a paranormal investigation, a terror train, a haunted church, and much much more! Watch hilarious plays and take part in activities such as feeding tigers and hyenas… and there may well be a Halloween twist! Lots of fun for the whole family, and a great chance to create some memories… kids won’t be forgetting this in a hurry!

Halloween Self-guided Fun Trail at Highwoods Country park

Take a walk on the wild side with this wonderful children’s trail. Follow the map around the fields and woodland to try and solve the puzzles. A relaxed walking environment for adults, with something extra to keep the kids entertained.

Spooky Fun at Cressing Temple Farms

28th and 29th October, 11.00am to 15.00pm

Fancy dress is a must at this one, as children take part in a competition to see who is the spookiest of them all – and there are prizes up for grabs too! Take a wander through the walled gardens, which may now be home to some secretive monsters, have a look at the creepy insect marquee, and try your hand at pumpkin throwing! On top of this there’s eerie joke telling, a magical magician, storytelling and much more. The cafe will even be serving Halloween themed grub for hungry tummies.

Have fun exploring some of these unusual activities and try your hand at homemade costumes… there are sure to plenty of prizes up for grabs!
