Dog-Friendly Accommodation In Essex

Dog fetching a ball

Gladwins Farm is based just outside of the village of Nayland and we often get the question, are you in Suffolk or Essex? The answer to that question is that we’re in Suffolk, but less than a mile from the Suffolk/Essex border which lies just down the hill.

This is why our 13 dog-friendly self-catering cottages are perfect for exploring everything Essex has to offer.

Our Dog-Friendly Cottages

At Gladwins Farm we have a selection of 13 different self-catering cottages which have been designed and built based on our idea of the ideal holiday cottage. Our cottages range from large lodges that can sleep up to 16 people to cosy, romantic cottages that sleep 2 people.

This makes a stay at Gladwins Farm ideal for corporate getaways with the whole team, a summer staycation with the family or a weekend break to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind you.

Our self-catering cottages are extremely well equipped for both you and your dog. Our range of amenities includes:

  • Eco-friendly wood chip central heating
  • Log burning stove
  • Smart TV
  • Nespresso machine
  • WiFi throughout the cottage
  • Washing machine

As all of our cottages are bespoke we recommend taking a look at our full selection of cottages for the exact specifications. We do have a few rules if you’re taking your four-legged friend with you on your stay with us to make sure that our cottages are clean and comfortable for the next guests. These include:

  • A maximum of three dogs to a cottage
  • Keeping your dog off the furniture and downstairs
  • A small supplement of £20 is charged per dog for the duration of your stay

Activities For You & Your Dog In Essex

Essex is home to many great attractions which will keep you busy exploring the area during your stay with us. There are a great deal of dog-friendly activities in Essex so you don’t have to leave your furry friend behind. Our favourites include:

Exploring the Dedham Vale

The village of Dedham sits within the Dedham Vale area of outstanding natural beauty and this makes it the perfect starting point to explore the area. Sitting just within Essex the village is a 20-minute drive from Gladwins Farm through the beautiful countryside and offers lots of great walks along the Stour.

Visit the seaside

Essex has one of the longest coastlines out of all the English counties which makes it a perfect place to take the family, including your pets, for a day out. The Essex coastline features lots of picturesque towns and villages, nature reserves, salt marsh and grazing marshes. Some of our favourite year-round dog-friendly beaches in Essex include:

  • Mersea beach
  • Irlams Beach
  • Osea Island Beach
  • The Naze Beach – just around the corner from Walton-on-the-Naze

Hylands House & Estate

Hylands house and estate just outside Chelmsford is an 18th-century house and estate. The house itself is open to the public for free on the 3rd Sunday of every month although this can change depending on the events they have running. The park is made up of 574 acres giving your dog the freedom to roam around and explore without you having to worry.
