Gladwins Farm is an excellent base for any sort of holiday.
We are only half an hour from the seaside at elegant Frinton or Mersea Island and only 50 minutes from London's bustling West End by train.
You mustn't miss Constable Country's heritage villages; Kersey, Lavenham and Chelsworth are famous for half-timbered medieval houses and find 'wool churches' or Long Melford, renowned for its antique shops and the National Trust's Melford Hall.
Bustling Colchester, Britains oldest recorded town, is only 10 minutes away, or you could venture further afield and discover Cambridge's colleges or Norwich castle. Nayland is on the doorstep; its shops, Post Office, pub/restaurant are set in a jumble of colour-washed houses with overhanging eaves and an obelisk for a milestone.
We are delighted to work with Colchester Zoo and can offer you discounted entry tickets.
Nayland and its surroundings is something of a 'foodie paradise'. We have such a wide selection of good eateries that you can stay for a fortnight and eat at a different restaurant or good pub food every night. We have made private arrangements with some of these places and the list is growing. Try The Anchor in Nayland by the river or the Rose & Crown up the road for a free drink with your meal. Other nearby pubs have great beer and gardens, carveries and even a well in the dining room! All the details can be found in our Visitor Information Centre.
Travel a little further and have silver service down by the river at Le Talbooth, recently voted the Most Romantic Place to Dine. Go to the seaside at Mersea and taste the freshest seafood and local oysters, washed down with Mersea Island's own dry white wine. A short trip to Pin Mill and you can watch the yachts as you enjoy the action from the bar at the famous Butt & Oyster. Jimmy's Farm is on the way, so pick up some of his famous Rare Breed sausages.
