At Gladwins Farm, we simply cannot get enough of the festive season, which is why we've worked so hard to make your stay with us as special as possible!
During the Christmas week, you'll be greeted with mulled wine and minced pies, and all of the cottages are decorated lavishly to evoke the seasonal atmosphere. There's plenty to do right here at the cottages - we have a luxury heated swimming pool and woodland walks to get your cheeks rosy, but if you're in the mood for exploring what the area has to offer, we've compiled some information about events happening nearby.
In true winter spirit, we've cast our eye towards the stage -- why not take a look at some of these fantastic productions whilst you stay with us?
29th November - 12th January
Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 1QR
Take a trip to see one of the most popular pantomime productions come to life! Aladdin offers a bright and colourful set, unrivalled costumes and our beloved Widow Twankey in her laundry shop. If you had three magical wishes, we're sure you'd use one of them to come and see this wonderful production during the Christmas period.
St Peter's Church, College Street, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 1XF
Taking a dark and inventive spin on the fairy tale traditions, this production sees the adventures of wicked witches, courageous explorers and magical maidens come to life in a spectacular show for adults and children. Music and magic combine to bring these classic stories to life in an evening of on-stage entertainment you'll never forget!
20th - 24th December
Collingwood Road, Witham, Essex, CM8 2DY
A Disney classic revamped and brought to life on the stage, right in front of your eyes. The whole family will enjoy sharing the adventures of Snow White, the seven dwarves and of course the Evil Queen -- exercise your best booing for when she appears on stage! This tongue-in-cheek script ensures some humour for the adults of the audience, so it's a well-rounded experience that caters for everyone from mum to little one.
20th - 30th December
3 St Helen's Street, Ipswich IP4 1HE
With an all-star cast, live music, dancing, lights and lots and lots of laughter, this fantastic rendition of the classic Peter Pan story will bring a smile to the face of children and adults alike. Join Wendy, Michael and John on their adventure to Neverland, and share in all of the excitement they find themselves in along the way.
Church Street, Colchester, Essex, CO1 1NF
Red Riding Hood is a traditional children's tale that all the family have grown to know and love, but the clever performers at Colchester Arts Centre have had a play around with the story, and given it a fresh injection of fun and laughter. When our innocent friend goes off into the woods, we expect the wolf to get the better of her again -- but this wolf is so silly, he just gets himself in a muddle! Songs, audience participation and all of the other pantomime traditions, but delivered in a revitalised version of a favourite.
Be sure to keep up the festive tradition of pantomime during your stay at Gladwin’s Farm, and look forward to the promise of returning to your luxury holiday cottage when the day is done. Mince pie, anyone?
