Mission Statement:
Within the limitations of conversions of existing medieval buildings, the Management intend to provide and maintain self-catering accommodation compliant with current legislation, codes of practice and ETC Mobility Standard. It is not feasible to accommodate visually impaired guests.
Where new construction is undertaken all accommodation will comply with or exceed the requirements of BS 8300-2001 to the Mobility Standard.
Management seek to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and will ensure that they are aware of industry standards.
Both Business Partners have attended an EETB ‘Welcome All’ Course in 2005

Action Plan:

Site access:
The car park will be clearly lit in the hours of darkness.
Ramps, slopes and general changes in gradient will be gradual and laid to appropriate falls and with suitable materials.
Handrails will be provided where necessary.
Access to the swimming pool will be maintained to allow wheelchair access to the building and the approach will be lit in the hours of darkness.
Access to public areas will be laid to falls and maintained without steps, or where changes in level require steps a ramp will be provided.

Cottages:
It is our policy to provide accommodation suitable for mobility-impaired guests.
This provision will be met mainly by new construction.
Existing conversions may be suitable for certain guests and our advertising material and brochures will provide information to guests on this topic.
To comply with BS 8300 – 2001 it has been necessary to include features within new-build accommodation.
This has been done and will be maintained under the inspection regime of the ETC Level 2 provisions.

Swimming Pool:
For practical and safety reasons it is not feasible to provide crane access to the pool.
Mobility impaired guests are able to access the pool building and to watch activities inside it.
Accompanied disabled guests may, within the limitations of the safety rules for the pool, use the pool at their own risk.

Administration and support:
Where a mobility-impaired guest has made a reservation, every effort will be made to meet their specific needs. In this context arrangements are in place with British Red Cross, Colchester, to hire or obtain suitable mobility aids locally and delivery/collection will be arranged.
Management will always provide advice at the time of booking.
